Welcome to The Hockey News - Vancouver Canucks site’s player preview series for the 2025–26 season. In these articles, we’ll preview the players who are expected to play for the Canucks in the 2025–26 season. Today's edition will focus on Filip Chytil, who will be playing his first full season with Vancouver next year.

Chytil arrived mid-season when he was traded from the New York Rangers in the J.T. Miller trade. He had an immediate impact, scoring in his first game with the Canucks and recording points in three of his first four games. In the end, Chytil was able to produce six points in 15 games with Vancouver, while winning 49.7% of his draws.
Unfortunately, Chytil's season did come to an early end as he suffered a concussion on March 15. In a game against the Chicago Blackhawks, the 25-year-old took a dangerous hit from Jason Dickinson and immediately left the ice. Chytil already has a history with concussions, which is why this latest one was extremely concerning.
While Chytil did not return to game action for the rest of the year, he continued to train and work with the team during practice. According to Chytil, he is healthy and ready for next season. As of the roster right now, Chytil is projected to play a key role in 2025-26 both at even strength and on the power play.
Giving Chytil a letter grade for last season was difficult, as he was with the team for such a short amount of time. In the end, he received a B for his performance during the 15 games. It is safe to say that all eyes will be on Chytil next year as he needs to have a big year for the Canuck to qualify for the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Unless management makes a trade, Chytil will start the season as Vancouver's second-line center. He is also projected to play on the power play, with his most likely place being on the second unit. While Chytil has primarily played third-line minutes in his career, it is clear that the Canucks feel he has the potential to take a step forward in his development this season.

The big question with Chytil will be his health. As mentioned, he has a history of concussions, including one that occurred less than six months ago. If Chytil can stay healthy for the entire season and playoffs, he should be able to have a significant impact on the team's performance.
