THN's The Big Show- Canucks Contenders Or Not

All three Vancouver Canucks prospects were in action Monday as the 2025 World Juniors pre-tournament schedule came to a close. Sawyer Mynio, Tom Willander and Basile Sansonnens all helped their countries close out the pre-tournament with wins as they prepared for the start of the 2025 World Juniors, which will get going on Thursday. Here is a recap of their games from today.

Tom Willander- Sweden

Willander stepped up in a big way for Sweden in their 11-1 win over Germany. He scored a power play goal while playing important minutes on Sweden's second defence pair. Whether it is at even strength or on the power play, it is clear that Willander will play a significant role on this Swedish team as they look to claim Gold for the first time in over a decade.

Basile Sansonnens- Switzerland

Sansonnes found the back of the net in Switzerland's 5-1 victory over Latvia. Sansonnes's goal came in the second period, helping extend the Swiss lead to 3-0. If Sansonnes can find a way to produce offensively in this tournament, it will go a long way in helping Switzerland qualify for the quarterfinals.

Sawyer Mynio- Canada

Mynio helped Canada to a tight 3-2 victory over Czechia. Mynio spent the game on Canada's third pair, playing beside San Jose Sharks prospect Sam Dickinson. Expect Mynio to be on the third pairing during the tournament while seeing some time on Canada's penalty kill.
