All three Vancouver Canucks prospects had strong games for Team Sweden.

On Thursday, Team Sweden recorded their second straight shutout of the 2024 World Juniors, defeating Germany 5-0. While they only recorded one assist combined, all three Canucks prospects had strong games as they helped Sweden improve to 2-0. Here is a recap of the impact each had on the game.

Starting on the blue line, Elias Pettersson was one of Sweden's top defenders for the second straight game. He led all players in the game with 23:12 of ice time and was the only Swedish player to crack the 20-minute mark. While he did not record a shot, he was active in the offensive zone and looked more engaged in the cycle than against Latvia. He has been rock solid for Sweden through their first two games and will be leaned upon heavily in their matchup versus Canada.

As for Tom Willander, he looked solid throughout. In 19:32 of ice time, which ranked second among Swedish players, he was physical along the walls and was able to make strong breakout passes out of the zone. It is clear that he has earned the coaching staff's trust, as they aren't afraid to play him in a matchup role or on the penalty kill.

Lastly, Jonathan Lekkerimäki was dynamic once again. He was able to showcase not only his shot but also his ability to create turnovers as he picked the pocket of the German defender, which led to Sweden's fifth goal of the game. Recording one assist and three shots in 15:21 of ice time, he continues to be an offensive threat every time the puck is on his stick.

Up next for Sweden will be a matchup versus Canada on Dec 29. With both these teams at 2-0, this game will most likely determine who claims the top spot in Group A. Game time is set for 10:30 AM PT and can be viewed on TSN.
