The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenceman Jett Woo to a one-year, two-way contract extension. Woo's new contract will carry an AAV of $775,000, keeping the 24-year-old in the organization for another season. Woo is one of Vancouver's longest-tenured players, as he signed his first contract with the Canucks on March 16, 2019.
In a press release, GM Patrik Allvin wrote, "Jett was a key member of our playoff run in Abbotsford. Logging those minutes in the playoffs should help him become a better player and leader moving forward. It's an experience he can build on this fall to start next season."
As Allvin mentioned, Woo played a significant role in Abbotsford's Calder Cup championship. In 67 regular-season games, he recorded 18 points before producing six points during his 22 playoff games. Woo was also part of the Canucks' leadership group this season, as he wore an "A" on his jersey throughout the year.

Now entering his fifth pro season, Woo has developed into a dependable defender at the AHL level. He is strong in his own zone and plays a physical brand of hockey. Listed at 6'0", 205 lbs, Woo will be a key piece of Abbotsford's blue line next year as the Canucks go for back-to-back championships.
