Vancouver Canucks Arturs Silovs and Teddy Blueger are headed to the 2026 Winter Olympics with Latvia as they defeated France 5-2 in an Olympic qualifying match.
Latvia finished atop the IIHF group, with France in second and Slovenia third. Ukraine finished in fourth.
Neither Blueger nor Silovs played in today's game, but both players project to play for the Olympic team. Silovs was supposed to play in the qualifying games, but the Latvian National team announced that the netminder was dealing with "knee ligament inflammation."
Silovs can breathe a sigh of relief as he projects to be the starting netminder in 2026. Canucks players are expected to be seen throughout the 26' Olympic Games as players like Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson, and Brock Boeser are primed for their Olympic debuts.
