Tyler Myers has officially been ruled out of the Vancouver Canucks game against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Canucks defenseman was involved in an awkward collision with Joel Farabee during the first period. After the collision, Myers needed to be helped off the ice and was unable to place any weight on his injured leg.

Losing Myers is significant as he plays a vital role on both the penalty kill and at even strength. In Vancouver's first game of the season, Myers played 19:38, which included 1:52 of shorthanded time. Due to the injury, the Canucks will conclude the game with only two right-shot defensemen barring any other injuries.

Depending on how long Myers is out, Vancouver may need to call up a defenseman before the start of their road trip. The Canucks play the next four games on the road, starting with a matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 15. Vancouver returns home on October 26 when they take on Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
