Elias Lindholm scored two power play goals in the Canucks 3-2 win over the Hurricanes.
The Vancouver Canucks (34-11-5) kicked off their post-All-Star break schedule with a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes (28-26-5). Elias Lindholm lived up to the hype as he scored two power play goals and was named the game's First Star in his Canucks debut. With the victory, Vancouver extended their point streak to 12 games and have now won eight of their last ten.
As mentioned, Lindholm was fantastic in his debut. He led all Canucks forward in ice time at 21:01 and finished the game with a perfect shooting percentage, one hit and three blocks. While he has only been a part of the organization for a little over a week, it is clear that head coach Rick Tocchet has a ton of faith in him and that Lindholm can adapt to Vancouver's style of play.
Here is what Tocchet had to say about his team and Lindholms' performance postgame:
"I'm really happy. I thought we had an excellent first, and then we grinded it out at the end. I thought we played a really good hockey game, especially with ten days off. Like Carolina, they were pushing at the end. Two good hockey teams."
"Take away the goals aside, obviously; we talked about watching him net front with Calgary, how good he was. Just at the end, that blocked shot, knowing when to be aggressive and when not to be, you can tell. When we go through the tape tomorrow, you'll see hockey IQ plays. He was obviously great tonight for us."
