Three Franchise Power-Play Records Could Await Elias Pettersson In 2026–27
Pettersson managed to reach ninth all-time in power-play points during the 2025–26 season, tallying his 166th on March 24, 2026. He finished the season with a career total of 172, which sits only five back of the next record in franchise history currently belonging to Alex Edler (177).
Eighth all-time isn’t the only mark Pettersson could hit in power-play points in 2026–27. Based on career-averages, it’s likely that the forward could register at least 20 points on the man-advantage — something he’s done in all but two seasons through his NHL career. 19 more power-play points in 2026–27 would shoot him all the way up to 191 total and fifth in franchise history, surpassing not only Edler but also Stan Smyl (7th, 181), Tony Tanti (6th, 185), and Quinn Hughes (5th, 190).
Franchise power-play points isn’t the only category Pettersson could crack the top-five in by the end of 2026–27, though this record will be a little more difficult for the forward to reach. With 110 career power-play assists heading into 2026–27, Pettersson currently sits at ninth in club history and 13 away from taking sole-possession of eighth-place over J.T. Miller (122). 25 total power-play assists in 2026–27 would see him jump all the way up to fifth in Canucks history, passing Edler (7th, 131), Dennis Kearns (6th, 132), and Trevor Linden (5th, 134) on the way.
The final power play milestone that Pettersson can reach in 2026–27 is entering the Canucks’ all-time top-10 in power-play goals. With 62 currently, Pettersson only needs four more to take 10th-place from Greg Adams (65). Three more power-play goals will put him ahead of Bo Horvat (67) for ninth-place, while eight on the season will see him pass Pavel Bure’s eighth-most 69 power-play goals. While Pettersson has scored eight or more power-play goals with ease in the past, he has yet to do-so since the 2023–24 season.

Boeser finished the 2025–26 season tied with Todd Bertuzzi for the fifth-most power-play goals in Canucks history with 79. One more goal will give him sole-possession of this mark, also putting him 17 away from Linden’s fourth-most 97 power-play goals. He has yet to score 17 power-play goals in a single season, registering a career-high of 16 in 2023–24.
As it stands, Boeser is also tied for the 10th-most power-play points. He finished the 2025–26 season with 165, the same number held by Miller, tying the two. One power-play point will give Boeser sole-possession of 10th. From there, however, the next player he can surpass will either be current teammate Pettersson (currently at 172, but still adding to his total), who is currently at ninth, or Edler (177) at eighth. If Boeser produces his career average of 16.5 power-play points per season, he can finish with a 181 that would tie Smyl’s current seventh-most power-play points total.
