The Canucks will face Quinn Hughes and the Minnesota Wild tonight for the first time since their blockbuster trade on December 12.
It has officially been 112 days since the Vancouver Canucks dealt former captain Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild in what has since become a franchise-altering decision. The defenceman was dealt on December 12, 2025, in exchange for Zeev Buium, Marco Rossi, Liam Öhgren, and Minnesota’s first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Lots has happened to Hughes since joining the Wild. He began his career with Minnesota by scoring a goal in his debut, registering his first multi-point night with the Wild only seven games after being traded, and putting up an 11-game point streak starting in mid-January and spanning past the Olympic break. During this stretch, he put up 19 points.
Away from the NHL, Hughes and Team USA won Gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics, defeating Canada in overtime to do so. The defenceman led his team in points through the tournament with a goal and seven assists in six games, simultaneously leading his team in average minutes played per game with 23:31.
With tonight being his 43rd game as a member of the Wild, Hughes is currently sitting on a total of four goals and 45 assists since being traded. From the start of the calendar year to now, he’s put up the 11th-most points of all players in the NHL with three goals and 39 assists. His overall point total of 72 currently ranks fifth among all NHL defencemen, behind only Evan Bouchard (20G, 66A), Zach Werenski (21G, 57A), Cale Makar (20G, 55A), and Lane Hutson (11G, 62A).

The defenceman currently leads all players in the NHL in minutes played since January 1 with a grand total of 929:27. His average ice time through the entire season, split between his time with Vancouver and Minnesota, ranks the highest of all NHLers with 27:47.
Vancouver will face Hughes for the first time since the trade when they take on Minnesota later tonight at 5:00 pm PT.
