July 1, 2025 could be the first time that Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser tests free agency. The career Canuck, who has been with the team since he was drafted almost a decade ago, has been uncertain about his future in Vancouver throughout the entire 2024–25 season. This comes a year after his career season in which he scored 40 goals and 33 assists.

“When you’re a young guy, you come here, you’re young, it’s kind of your first time moving away from home, or I guess a little farther away from home. And it just started to feel like home more and more as I grew old here,” Boeser said during his end of season media availability.

Initially during the trade deadline, rumours circulated that Boeser would be moved from the Canucks if the price was right. By the time the deadline passed, Boeser was still with the team. Throughout the season’s negotiation process, Boeser’s return to Vancouver has seemed more and more unlikely — but that doesn’t mean his return is impossible.

“If this is it, I’m sure I’ll be back a lot, so this'll always be home to me.”

If it does come down to free agency, Boeser noted that winning will factor into his decision.

“All that I want to do is win. And last year was so fun when we were winning in playoffs, and that whole experience was a blast, most fun in my career. So I definitely think that's going to play a big part if I do make it there.”
