As expected, it appears that Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser will test free agency this off-season. According to a report by Farhan Lalji of "TSN", the 28-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2025. Lalji also noted that if Boeser does not find a deal he likes, it is possible that he could re-sign with the Canucks.

Heading into the 2025 trade deadline, there was plenty of speculation that the organization was going to trade Boeser. In the end, Vancouver did not get a deal they liked, electing to keep Boeser for the remainder of the season. In his year-end media availability, when asked about keeping Boeser (and Pius Suter) instead of trading him, Jim Rutherford said, "Well, we could lose those players. We might not. It's one of the reasons that we didn't trade them at the deadline. So we had a longer runway to make that decision."

Re-signing Boeser will not be easy. Based on the free agent class, multiple teams will be interested in signing him, which could create a bidding war. According to AFPAnalytics, Boeser's next contract is projected to have an AAV of around $9 million, which would carry a cap percentage of 9.42% for the 2025-26 season.

Over the last decade, Boeser has become a fan favourite. His 204 goals rank eighth all-time in franchise history, while he is one of 22 skaters to play over 550 games in Vancouver. This season, Boeser scored 25 goals while recording 50 points in 75 games.
