As reported by Ben Kuzma of "The Province," McWard is dealing with a minor nagging injury that will keep him out of the tournament. Kuzma also noted that Jett Woo will not be participating, but that is because the 24-year-old defenceman received "a promotion straight to main camp next week."
The 2024-25 campaign will be massive for McWard, who is looking to add to his six games of NHL experience. He is projected to be a top-four defenceman for the Abbotsford Canucks and will be a name to watch when call-ups are needed during the season. At last year's Young Stars Classic, McWard was a standout for the Canucks, finishing the event with four points in three games.

Friday, September 13: Vancouver vs Edmonton at 7:30 pm PT
Sunday, September 15: Vancouver vs Winnipeg at 2:00 pm PT
Monday, September 16: Calgary vs Vancouver at 2:30 pm PT
*All games will take place at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton, B.C.
