Without J.T. Miller in the lineup for the foreseeable future, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet is urging his team to play with more F-you mentality.
"I'd like to see five or 10% [more] from other players tonight. Everybody can supply it," Tocchet said. "You're getting 100% effort, but what I'm saying is everybody gives five to 10% [more]. That's how you make up for in the short term."
Miller not only was a top offensive option, but his emotion and drive on the ice fed the bench. Tocchet has gone on record saying he needs to push his team harder, and Miller is one of the players who can lead his team from a player's perspective.
Tocchet explained what he meant by playing with more f-you.
"F-you is not hooking and holding. F-you is getting on people," Tocchet explained. "Change in the right way, not changing the way back, and let the other team score that. F-you is cleaning your stuff before the next guy goes on the edge. Don't hand off your crap to somebody else. I think that's the F-you I'm talking about."
The Canucks are playing a tough New York Rangers team that will capitalize on the exact mistakes that Tocchet is explaining.
