Vancouver’s most common winning and losing scores were each tallied seven times this season. For losses, the Canucks’ most frequent score from this season was 3–2. They registered their first 3–2 loss of this season on October 11 against the Philadelphia Flyers, ultimately losing in a shootout. Their most recent was on April 12, also out of regulation, against the Minnesota Wild. Of their seven 3–2 losses this season, five came in overtime or a shootout.
3–2 was a common score this season in general, regardless of whether the Canucks won or lost. Vancouver reached this score 12 different times this season, making it the most of all scores that they registered starting on October 9. In their first 10 games of the season, Vancouver finished three matches with a score of 3–2, two of which were in wins against the Florida Panthers (October 17) and the San Jose Sharks (November 2).
The second most-frequent score tallied in a win or loss was 4–3. This score was registered 11 times in 2024–25, seven of which were in wins for the Canucks. Their first 4–3 game took place on October 26 against the Pittsburgh Penguins and marked the team’s fourth-straight victory at the time. Ironically enough, they followed their first 4–3 win off with their first 4–3 loss of the season the game after against the Carolina Hurricanes.
In terms of the goal differential in wins and losses, there was one that stuck out more than the other — unsurprisingly so. Regardless of the outcome, Vancouver had many more one-goal games than those decided by a goal differential of three or more. Put together, 37 of the Canucks’ games in 2024–25 were decided by one goal. Wins and losses in this category were split right down the middle, with 19 of these single-goal games ending in defeat. Six of the team’s first 10 games of the season were decided by a goal.
On the other hand, 28 of the team’s games were handily decided with three or more goals. Vancouver had 14 wins and 14 losses with a goal differential of three or more, with their highest differential being six goals after being shut out by the New Jersey Devils on October 30. Games separated by two goals saw the biggest difference in the amount of wins and losses. 11 of the Canucks’ two-goal games were losses, while only six of them resulted in wins.
