Vancouver’s first game of the week was a stinker. With their playoff hopes slowly diminishing, the Canucks were crushed in a 5–0 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night. This loss dropped their playoff odds to 2.19% at the time. The game was not the only thing the Canucks lost, however, as Tyler Myers missed the final 11 minutes of the match.
While Vancouver faltered on Wednesday, all was not lost for the Canucks organization as a whole. With an 11th-straight win, the Abbotsford Canucks clinched a spot in the 2025 Calder Cup Playoffs, doing so without four of their top scorers. This is the fourth-straight season that Abbotsford has made the playoffs, doing so every year since their inaugural season.
On Saturday, in what was the team’s last set of back-to-back games for the season, Vancouver took on the Anaheim Ducks at home. Breaking a franchise record by scoring five straight goals in 4:30, the Canucks put up an impressive 6–2 win that included the first career goal for Elias Pettersson (D). Brock Boeser, Conor Garland, Dakota Joshua, Filip Hronek, and Max Sasson also scored.
Despite the commanding win the night before, the Canucks dropped the second of their back-to-back, losing 3–2 to the Vegas Golden Knights. Nils Höglander returned to the lineup after missing the past six games due to injury. He made his presence known by scoring the game’s opening goal and helping drive play in the first period alongside Boeser and Pius Suter. Kevin Lankinen made his first start since the team’s March 28 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets, putting up an impressive 32-save performance.
