The Hockey News conducted its end-of-season awards, and the Vancouver Canucks are front and center throughout.
Front and center was Quinn Hughes, the presumptive favorite for this season's Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman.
THN collected 47 votes, and Hughes received 40 of them. Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi received five votes, while Cale Makar and Miro Heiskanen each got one vote.
The other winner from the Canucks was head coach Rick Tocchet. Of the 47 votes, Tocchet got 30. Tocchet joined the team last season and has completely turned around the franchise from perennial underachiever to top team in the league.
Elias Pettersson appeared on the list with two votes for the Lady Bing trophy. Pettersson finished the season with 12 PIMs and 89 points, both high standards for the award that is given to "the player who demonstrated the best sportsmanship and high standard of playing ability."
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews was voted the winner by THN with 19 votes.
Lastly, Thatcher Demko received one vote for this season's Vezina Trophy. The runaway winner was Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who received 45 of 47 votes.
Demko's late-season injury likely cost him any chance of winning the trophy. Helebuyck and the Jets were awarded the Jennings Trophy as the team with the fewest goals given up.
The actual awards will be announced just before the Draft.
