Welcome back to another instalment of Top Five at 15/30. Last time, we looked at the Vancouver Canucks’ top performers from March 15 to 31. This time, we’ll be looking at the best performances from players throughout the first half of April. Here are the top five Canucks from April 1 to 15.

    Jake DeBrusk

Most notable game: April 14 vs. San Jose Sharks

    Points since the 1st: 4G, 0A in 7GP

When he’s hot, he’s hot. Jake DeBrusk is currently riding a four-game goal streak that stretches back to April 8. He has 11 points in his last 15 games. Two of his past four goals have come on the power play, while last night’s tally against the Sharks was his first game-winning goal since February 4. Despite being streaky, this four-goal effort helped him reach a new career-high in goals scored in one season with 28.

    Marcus Pettersson

Most notable game: April 8 vs. Dallas Stars

    Points since the 1st: 1G, 3A in 7GP

The eldest of the team’s three Petterssons, Marcus has played a solid stretch of games extending past April. He has six points in his last 10 games, and scored his first goal as a member of the Canucks on April 12 against the Minnesota Wild. Without Tyler Myers in the lineup, he has been heavily relied on for killing penalties, as he has the team’s highest TOI on the PK since April started (21:16).

    Kevin Lankinen

Most notable game: April 6 vs. Vegas Golden Knights

    Record since the 1st: 1–1–1

Despite how his record looks, Kevin Lankinen has shown fans that his stumble in March was not a permanent issue. Since returning to the Canucks’ crease on April 6, Lankinen has faced over 30 shots every game and has not let in more than three goals. In the past three games, all against probable playoff teams, he has faced 100 shots and only let in seven goals. Something to also keep in mind is that he played in his 50th game of the season on Saturday. Prior to this, his career high was 37 back in the 2020–21 season.

    Kiefer Sherwood

Most notable game: April 10 vs. Colorado Avalanche

    Points since the 1st: 2G, 3A in 7GP

Prior to Saturday night’s loss, Kiefer Sherwood had a four-game point streak. He potted a goal and an assist on Thursday against the Avalanche and got the overtime game-winning goal on Tuesday against the Stars. Thanks to these efforts, he hit the 40-point mark for the first time in his career. This is just the cherry on top of what has been a phenomenal season for Sherwood. Now, he has one game left to register the first 20-goal season of his career.

    Quinn Hughes

Most notable game: April 14 vs. San Jose Sharks

    Points since the 1st: 0G, 6A in 7GP

Given the fact that he tied Alex Edler’s franchise record in career points by a defenseman (409), Hughes can’t be left off his list. He has played over 30 minutes twice in the past five games, with his lowest total being 24:08 against the Avalanche. As well, he led the Canucks in points registered throughout the first half of April with six assists in seven games played. With the season he has had, it’s only fitting to have Hughes at number one on this list.
