Revenge will be on the mind as the Vancouver Canucks (36-12-6) face the Detroit Red Wings (27-19-6) on Thursday night. This will be Vancouver's first home game of the month as they recently wrapped up a five-game road trip, which included a 4-3 loss to Detroit on Saturday. The Canucks will be aiming to even the season series while also looking to become the first team in the NHL to 80 points in 2023-24.

One storyline to keep an eye on is the return of Nikita Zadorov from suspension. Vancouver's defender missed the last two games after he was suspended for a check to the head against Red Wings' forward Lucas Raymond. With plenty of conversations this week around the league surrounding "the code," do not be surprised if he is challenged to a fight early in the game.

    Players to Watch

    Ilya Mikheyev

With Dakota Joshua out of the lineup, how will Mikheyev fit into the Canucks third line? Mikheyev, who has not scored a goal in his last 22 games, has the skill to play with Teddy Blueger and Conor Garland but will need to adjust his game a bit to succeed. He had an assist the last time these two teams faced off, so hopefully, he can find his way onto the scoresheet tonight.

    Lucas Raymond

Raymond has already caused Vancouver problems this season and will be expected to have a big game on Thursday. The Red Wings winger is on pace to set a new career-high in points and has factored in on the scoring in five of his last seven games. Whether it is on the power play or at even strength, the Canucks must be focused whenever the puck is on his stick.
