Reports are coming out that Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy is injured and could miss extended time.
Rick Dhaliwal originally reported that Soucy could miss 3-4 weeks with a hand injury.
After morning skate, head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters that Soucy's injury has a 5-6 week timeline.
Soucy just returned from a 23-game absence while he dealt with a knee injury. He returned on January 6 against the New Jersey Devils.
Soucy has played 21 games this season and has two goals and four assists. He has often been paired with Tyler Myers. This pair has been a terrific shutdown pairing that plays right behind the top duo of Quinn Hughes and Filip Hronek.
Myers and Soucy are the top players on the first penalty kill unit for head coach Rick Tocchet. In the Canucks last ten games, their PK has been at 89.3%. Soucy has been a factor in that success, as he has played in eight games since returning.
Against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Soucy did not take a shift in the third period. He played just 13:40, which is way down from his 17:24 average TOI this season.
Noah Juulsen will likely take his place in the lineup and be paired with Ian Cole on the third rotation. Nikita Zadorov should move into Soucy's place next to Myers.
