    Wayne Gretzky took in the Vancouver Canucks morning skate this morning ahead of tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators.

    Wayne Gretzky took in the Vancouver Canucks morning skate this morning ahead of tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators. 

    Gretzky was in Seattle working for TNT on its broadcast of the 2024 Winter Classic yesterday. Rick Tocchet and Gretzky were both on the panel before Tocchet's tenure with the Canucks began.

    "He's [on] PP1 tonight," Tocchet joked after morning skate.

    The Canucks top powerplay has slowed down as of late. While still a top ten powerplay in the league at 23.6%. Over the last 20 games, the Canucks powerplay is at 14%. 

    Ottawa has the worst penalty kill in the league at 72.1%. Ottawa is trying to figure things out after they fired DJ Smith before the Christmas break. 

    Vancouver sits atop the Pacific Divison standings with 49 points. They have the same points as the Vegas Golden Knights but have two games in hand.
