One of the bigger talking points through the first nine games of the Vancouver Canucks 2024-25 season has been Jake DeBrusk. While he does have four assists on the season, the former Boston Bruins winger is still looking for his first goals with the Canucks. While the nine-game goalless slump has been frustrating, history shows that Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks could be the game DeBrusk finally bumps the slump.

During his career, DeBrusk has played the Sharks nine times, recording five goals and nine points. In fact, San Jose is the only team in the NHL he is at a point-per-game pace against. With six of those nine points coming in four games at the SAP Center, DeBrusk should be able to continue his success against a Sharks team that only recently snapped a nine-game losing streak to start the season.

DuBrusk has also been known throughout his career as a notoriously slow starter. In 66 games during October, he has just 11 goals and 27 points, which includes the four assists in nine games this season. November, however, is a different story, as in 70 career games, he has 23 goals and 43 points. In fact, November seems to be one of DeBrusk's favourite months, as the only month he has scored more goals in is March, with 25 in 72 games.

Ultimately, San Jose presents a great opportunity for DeBrusk. He has a track record of strong performances against the Sharks and, as for the team itself, should get plenty of scoring opportunities as San Jose currently sits 27th in the league in shots against per game with 32.1. While it hasn't been an ideal start, DeBrusk has the chance to put all the noise behind him with a strong performance on Saturday night.
