On Thursday morning, Tony Ferrari of The Hockey News released his projected Team Canada roster for the 2025 World Juniors. Included on the roster was Vancouver Canucks prospect Sawyer Mynio, who is currently playing for the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL. While Mynio is currently out of the lineup with an upper-body injury, he is expected to be back in Seattle's lineup sooner rather than later.

Since being drafted by the Canucks 89th overall in 2023, Mynio has developed into one of the top defensemen in the WHL. He has 17 points in 15 games this season and played his first pre-season game with Vancouver back in September. In 193 career WHL games, Mynio has recorded 112 points and helped the Thunderbirds reach the Memorial Cup Final during the 2022-23 season.

Based on Ferrari's projection, Team Canada will feature quite a few WHLers at this year's tournament. Other players from the WHL projected to make the squad include Tanner Molendyk, Scott Ratzlaff and 16-year-old phenom Gavin McKenna. Mynio was part of Team Canada's Summer Showcase Roster, finishing the summer tournament with two goals and two assists in five games.

The 2025 World Juniors will take place in Ottawa from December 26, 2024, to January 5, 2025. Team Canada's first game is scheduled for the 26th when they take on Team Finland at 4:30 pm PT. After failing to medal in 2024, Team Canada will be looking to get back on the podium and bring home their 21st Gold Medal.
