Welcome to The Hockey News - Vancouver Canucks site’s player preview series for the 2025–26 season. In these articles, we’ll preview the players who are expected to play for the Canucks in the 2025–26 season. Today, let’s look at how Vancouver’s big free-agent signing, none other than decade-long Canuck Brock Boeser, could perform in 2025–26.

    Boeser’s 2024–25 Season

In terms of point production, the 2024–25 season was pretty standard for Boeser. He finished the year with 25 goals and 25 assists, which is around the ballpark of his point totals from his past seasons as a Canuck. While this somewhat pales in comparison to his 40-goal, 33-assist season the year before, in the long run, it’s not like Boeser had a particularly bad season. Another thing to consider is Boeser’s uncertain future with Vancouver, which was unknown to pretty much everyone up until 9:30am PT on July 1.

For the bulk of not just this season, but most of his career, Boeser has been at the heart of trade rumours regarding the Canucks. This year seemed to exasperate these even more. The forward was reported to have been available at the 2025 Trade Deadline, but was ultimately not traded due to the return teams were offering. From then on, many — including Boeser — were convinced that the decade-long Canuck would be moving on from the team in free agency. This kind of mindset would definitely impact a player’s performance throughout a season. However, with his long-term future now sealed with the Canucks, Boeser is free to focus on his performance on the ice rather than where he could find himself off it.

    Boeser’s 2024–25 Letter Grade

The Hockey News - Canucks site gave Boeser a B- for how he played in 2024–25, because he did perform up to usual standards despite declining a bit from his 2023–24 point totals. As mentioned, having a new seven-year contract will help Boeser feel more comfortable in his future compared to prior seasons, as this is the first contract he has signed that will last longer than three years. As one of the longest-tenured Canucks, his leadership and presence in the locker room will continue to leave a positive impact on the team as it has since he joined the organization.

"At The End Of The Day, I Think My Heart Was Still In Vancouver": Brock Boeser Speaks On Signing A Seven-Year Extension With The Canucks "At The End Of The Day, I Think My Heart Was Still In Vancouver": Brock Boeser Speaks On Signing A Seven-Year Extension With The Canucks On July 1, the Vancouver Canucks and Brock Boeser agreed to a seven-year extension worth $50.75 million. The new deal will keep the 28-year-old in Vancouver for potentially his entire career, as Boeser has been with the organization since 2015 when they drafted him 23rd overall. Ultimately, this is contract is a big win for not just the Canucks and Boeser, but also the fan base, as they have been sharing their excitement on social media since the deal was announced.

    Boeser’s 2025–26 Predictions

If all goes well, 2025–26 could be the first 82-game season that Boeser plays in — and if this is the case, he could easily tally his second career 30-goal season. Injuries have played a big role in Boeser’s season-by-season performances, as his first career 40-goal season came about in his first near-82-game season (81 games played). With multiple changes to Vancouver’s forward core as well as a healthy Elias Pettersson returning to the lineup, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Boeser sniping the puck with the same energy from 2023–24.
