Less than a week after Vancouver's biggest trade of the season, the team is open to hearing deals for another player.

The Vancouver Canucks traded star forward J.T. Miller on Friday, January 31, only an hour before their game. Today, it was reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman that the team has made defenceman Carson Soucy available for trade. Soucy was scratched during Sunday's game against the Detroit Red Wings, but the decision on whether he'll play in tonight's game against the Colorado Avalanche has yet to be made.

Soucy first joined the Canucks on July 1, 2023, signing a three-year, $9.75M contract with an average annual value of $3.25M. He came to the Canucks after spending two seasons with the Seattle Kraken, putting up 13 goals and 24 assists in 142 games in that span of time. Soucy was not primarily known for his offensive production, but since arriving in Vancouver, it's something that has fallen to the background.

In his first season with the Canucks, Soucy only played 40 games, as he was sidelined with two different injuries throughout 2023-24. During his time in the lineup, he has primarily played alongside Tyler Myers, becoming a key piece of the team's second-pairing at the time.

Since starting the 2024-25 season, Soucy has only missed one game to date. In 51 games, he has scored two goals and six assists, and currently averages a career-high of 19 minutes per game. With the Canucks blueline having welcomed Marcus Pettersson and Elias Pettersson (D) in recent games, it's likely that when Soucy does return to the lineup, his minutes will be reduced significantly.
