Adin Hill has left an incredible impact and he's one of the key reasons why the Golden Knights are one win away from the Stanley Cup Final.
Vegas goalie Adin Hill remains calm no matter what circumstance he faces.
“I just stick to what I always do,” Hill said after a 3-2 Game 2 victory against the Dallas Stars. “I focus on my breathing and just staying in the moment. Not worrying about other stuff,”
It's seemingly paying off.
Hill has been a steady force in net for the Golden Knights since coming in for Laurent Brossoit in Game 3 of the Western Conference Second Round against the Edmonton Oilers.
Hill is 6-1 this postseason with a 1.96 goals-against average and .940 save percentage. He posted his first NHL career Stanley Cup Playoff shutout in Game 3 against the Dallas Stars, making 34 saves in the process.
“I’m just really impressed with his ability to come into the playoffs and not miss a beat,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said prior to Game 2 against Dallas. “That tells you something about a guy what he did on his spare time. He didn’t just luck into it.”
Not bad considering that he was supposed to be 1B option to Logan Thompson at the start of the season.
“We knew we needed help in that position with the news from [Robin Lehner] as we got closer to training camp. That’s when we decided Adin would be a good fit for us,” Cassidy said. “We did analytics of his strengths and weaknesses, and we thought in the system we were going to play, he’d be good for our system in terms of the numbers.”
Despite his individual success this postseason, Hill remains complementary toward his teammates who make his job a lot easier.
"I feel pretty good about my game right now, but it speaks volumes to our team, too," Hill said after Game 3. "We haven't lost many games in these playoffs. We're on a kind of roll right now and playing really well defensively, so I just want to keep it going and just focus on the next game."
