The Vegas Golden Knights are looking to improve on a shaky January and start February off right with a win over the New York Rangers.
The Golden Knights and Rangers met on Jan. 11, resulting in a 2-1 win for the Rangers. The Golden Knights opened the scoring in the second period courtesy of Mark Stone before goals from Vincent Trocheck and Adam Edstrom secured the two points for the Rangers.
The loss was at the beginning of a tough stretch for the Golden Knights. They went on to lose four games after beating the Minnesota Wild, dropping them out of first place in the Pacific Division temporarily. They've picked up points in each of their last three games but lost their previous two games in overtime.
This afternoon's game is the first of four consecutive road games before the 4 Nations Face-Off. The Golden Knights are tied with the Edmonton Oilers for first place in the Pacific Division but need to start picking up points.
Adin Hill is the projected starter and unlike their most recent meeting, he'll be in goal and he'll face off against former Golden Knight Jonathan Quick.
Brandon Saad is also projected to make his Golden Knights debut. Who he plays with won't be known until line rushes during the pre-game warmups but the expectation is that he skates on Nicolas Roy and Keegan Kolesar's left wing.
