The Vegas Golden Knights look to be the first team since the 1997-98 Detroit Red Wings to start a defending Stanley Cup season 4-0-0 when they face the Dallas Stars at 7:30 p.m. at T-Mobile Arena.

"We've built up a little bit of could be a rivalry down the road you don't know. Playoff series usually build some of that animosity but we'll see tonight how it goes," Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. "They've only played one game, so the probably trying to, even though they have a lot of returning players, find their game right now."
The Golden Knights will once again be without Alex Pietrangelo, who is still dealing with the effects of a Nicolas Hague slapshot to the head.
William Carrier will be a game-time decision, but is likely to play pending a setback in the warmups.
Alec Martinez skated in a red non-contact jersey and will travel with the team to Winnipeg and Chicago.
As for the Stars, Roope Hintz returns after sitting out the season opener with an upper-body injury.
