Former Vegas Golden Knights centre Vadim Shipachyov has set the KHL games played record and tied the all-time points record.

The Golden Knights signed the Russian centre to a two-year, $9M deal on May 4, 2017, but only played three games in the NHL before travelling back to Russia to play for SKA St. Petersburg.

The 39-year-old has set the KHL record with 1002 games played, regular season and playoffs combined. In those 1002 games, he's scored 291 goals and 637 assists for 928 points, which is tied with Sergei Mozyakin's 928 points.

The season before joining the Golden Knights, Shipachyov was 30 years old and had 26 goals and 50 assists in 50 games with SKA St. Petersburg, finishing third in the KHL scoring race. He added four goals and 15 assists in 17 playoff games to help St. Petersburg win its second title in three years.

The Cherepovets, Russia native might be thought about in bad lighting by Golden Knights fans but in Russia, he's one of the most accomplished players in KHL history. He's a two-time MVP, a three-time KHL point leader, a two-time KHL Gagarin Cup champion and a three-time KHL First All-Star team member. In his international career, Shipachyov has four World Championship medals (one gold, one silver and two bronze) and two Olympic medals (one gold and one silver). 

Shipachyov leaves a sour taste in Golden Knights fans' mouths but his KHL career is undeniably great.
