The Vegas Golden Knights have placed captain Mark Stone on the injured reserve and have placed defenseman Ben Hutton on the long-term injured reserve.
Stone suffered a lower-body injury on Nov. 6 against the Edmonton Oilers, occurring when he scored an empty net goal. The 32-year-old skated for the first time yesterday but didn't participate in any team drills. The shift to the IR indicates that he won't be available for tomorrow's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs but anything after that is not ruled out.
Ben Hutton suffered his injury during the Golden Knights' most recent outing. He played as a forward on the fourth line and exited the game after the first period with an upper-body injury. The Golden Knights have placed the 31-year-old on the LTIR and are labelling him week-to-week. When on the LTIR, a player will miss a minimum of 10 games or 24 days.
According to PuckPedia, the Golden Knights have recalled Jonas Rondbjerg, Mason Morelli and Callahan Burke from the Henderson Silver Knights. With Stone out and Victor Olofsson down in the AHL on a conditioning loan, the Golden Knights are in need of depth forwards.
The Golden Knights are about to embark on a five-game road trip which includes four games against Eastern Conference opponents and will need all the extra help they can get. Having Rondbjerg, Morelli and Burke on the NHL roster allows them to have the security of knowing they have replacements if they continue to face injury problems.
