The Vegas Golden Knights have reassigned Grigori Denisenko and Akira Schmid to the Henderson Silver Knights, hinting at the possible returns of Mark Stone and Ilya Samsonov.
Denisenko was called up to the Golden Knights on Wednesday ahead of their 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks. Denisenko played just 8:27 but dished out five hits and finished with two penalty minutes.
Schmid was called up prior to the first meeting between Utah HC and the Golden Knights. He didn't feature in any game until he came in relief of Adin Hill during their 5-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Hill allowed four goals on 21 shots, but Schmid entered the game and turned away all 12 shots he encountered.
Samsonov has been dealing with an undisclosed injury since his last outing on Oct. 30 against the Los Angeles Kings. The loss was Samsonov's first game where he struggled during his Golden Knights career, turning away just 21 of the 27 shots the Kings threw his way.
Stone has also been dealing with the injury bug. He scored an empty-net goal against the Edmonton Oilers and was in pain during his skate back to the bench. He's missed the previous three games and his return would certainly boost the lineup.
The Golden Knights practice lines will determine if Stone and Samsonov are indeed ready to return to the Golden Knights lineup but all signs point to their return.
