The Vegas Golden Knights reportedly have interest in signing Patrick Kane and Steven Stamkos.

Emily Kaplan of ESPN reported that the Golden Knights are keeping an eye on every free agent which includes three-time Stanley Cup winner Patrick Kane.

"While Detroit and New York are in the mix, I also wouldn't discount Vegas, which made one of the strongest pushes for Kane when he was a free agent this past fall. The Golden Knights, as usual, are stealthily in on everything. Vegas has continued to have conversations with Jonathan Marchessault (who shares an agent with Kane), though nothing has materialized yet."

Kane underwent surgery to repair his hip last offseason but signed with the Detroit Red Wings and proved he still has a lot left in the tank. In 50 games, Kane scored 20 goals and 47 points.

Stamkos' agent announced that he will be a free agent come July 1st after he and the Tampa Bay Lightning remain very far apart in negotiations.

Darren Dreger of TSN mentioned that the Golden Knights could be monitoring the Stamkos situation. They like his championship pedigree and the veteran element that he can bring to the lineup which is already filled with a lot of experience.

The 34-year-old's production at 5v5 dropped off a bit but he still recorded 40 goals and 81 points in 79 games. He also added another five goals in five games in the first round of the playoffs.

The 2007 and 2008 first overall picks are going to be sought after this offseason. Kane will cost around $3M and is looking for more term than a one-year deal. Stamkos was offered an eight-year deal worth $3M annually by the Lightning but is looking for $4-5M depending on the term.

The Golden Knights' priority is still to re-sign Jonathan Marchessault but if negotiations were to break down, general manager Kelly McCrimmon still needs to have backup plans.
