The Vegas Golden Knights have signed prospect Trent Swick to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The Golden Knights selected the 20-year-old with their sixth round (180th overall) pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Playing with the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL, Swick has scored 26 goals and 57 points in 55 games. He's eclipsed his career-high of 25 goals and is on pace to best his career-high of 60 points, both of which were accomplished last year.
The towering 6'6, 207 lbs winger was drafted as an overager but has shown positive results that made the Golden Knights feel comfortable taking a chance on. With each season that has gone by, Swick has continued to show stronger signs that he is feeling more comfortable with his size and how he can use it to his advantage.
The St. Catharines, ON native is likely still a ways away from being ready to join the Golden Knights and the next step for him will be to become acclimated with professional hockey in either the ECHL with the Tahoe Knight Monsters or the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights.
Swick is the first of the four 2024 draft picks to sign with the Golden Knights. Due to NCAA eligibility, Trevor Connelly and Lucas Van Vliet can't sign unless they intend to make the move to pro hockey, but Swick can sign with the Golden Knights and still play for his OHL club.

Vegas Golden Knights prospect Lucas Van Vliet was the second-highest scorer at the World Junior A Challenge and took home a gold medal.
If Swick can continue to improve and the Golden Knights do their best to enhance his development, they could have a future matchup nightmare.
