The Henderson Silver Knights have signed Mitch McLain to a two-year AHL deal.

McLain spent the previous two seasons with the Calgary Wranglers. Last year the centreman played in 63 games scoring 16 goals and 23 points. He also wracked up 112 penalty minutes, the most of his AHL career and the third consecutive season he did so.

The 30-year-old spent four years at Bowling Green State University in the NCAA before playing for the Iowa Wild of the AHL in 2018.

McLain has yet to appear in an NHL game with any of the Calgary Flames, Nashville Predators and Minnesota Wild and won't with the Vegas Golden Knights after signing an AHL deal.

The Silver Knights have continued to add veterans to their roster to help the young prospects they have. Matyas Sapovaliv, Ben Hemmerling, Lukas Cormier and Brendan Brisson (if he returns to Henderson) can learn a lot from veterans like McLain, Robert Hagg, Zach Aston-Reese and Dysin Mayo who have spent time in the NHL and have played with many AHL teams.

The Silver Knights are looking to have a better season tham last year where they failed to make the playoffs for the previous two seasons.
