Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports - Stars Reportedly Interested In Golden Knights Pending UFA

The Dallas Stars are reportedly interested in Vegas Golden Knights pending UFA William Carrier.

Elliotte Friedman was on The Jeff Marek Show and said "One guy I kind of heard who could be on Dallas' radar, and I think could be a great fit for them and also would push him (the now traded Ty Dellandrea) out of the lineup, is William Carrier"

Carrier has spent the last seven seasons with the Golden Knights playing in 372 games, scoring 53 goals and tallying 99 points.

The 29-year-old was drafted in the second round, 57th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2013 NHL draft. He never played with the Blues but started his NHL career with the Buffalo Sabres in the 2016-17 season.

The Stanley Cup winner is a speed threat in the bottom six. His aggressiveness on the forecheck, responsibility defensively and his penalty kill capabilities have been an important factor in the Golden Knights' success.

One issue the Golden Knights have faced with Carrier is his inability to stay healthy. He's dealt with numerous injury issues, especially in the last three seasons but when he is on the ice he is extremely impactful. Due to the Golden Knights' cap situation, it has been reported the Golden Knights won't be resigning him this offseason.

The Stars emerging as a front-runner makes a lot of sense. He has familiarity with the Stars' current head coach Pete DeBoer. His playstyle also fits in the Stars' lineup.

It'll be hard for the Golden Knights to replace what Carrier has provided them but in the end, it's just the nature of the game.
