Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel is a game-time decision but is suspected to be back in the lineup after missing 19 consecutive games.
Bruce Cassidy is listing Eichel as a game-time decision but suspects that he'll play in tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Eichel's return comes at a crucial time for the Golden Knights. The team is on their worst run of the season and have dropped out of second place in the Pacific Division meaning they lose home-ice advantage in the first round.
Eichel's return will unquestionably help the Golden Knights offence. Whenever a point-per-game scorer returns the offence will improve. What Eichel's return will also do is help the team's defence. Eichel is one of the best two-way centres in the NHL and his return will help the Golden Knights keep the puck out of their net, something they have been struggling to do.
Once Eichel is inserted into the lineup he will allow some forwards to drop down in the lineup. This will take pressure off of some players and allow them to play their game with more comfort. Eichel leads the team in power-play goals and is tied for the team lead in power-play points. A facet of the game the Golden Knights have struggled in since Eichel's injury.
