Vegas Golden Knights prospect Mathieu Cataford won the QMJHL MVP and finished in the top three in the CHL Player of the Year Award.
In his third season with the Halifax Mooseheads, Cataford was a dominant offensive force scoring 40 goals and 90 points in 65 games. He finished third in points and goals across the entire QMJHL.
Jagger Firkus (WHL) was the winner of the CHL Player of the Year with Easton Cowan (OHL) and Cataford finishing as the other two finalists. Cataford also finished on the third CHL All-Star team.
The Golden Knights 2023 third-round pick is still only 19 years old and his steady development has been a great sign for the Golden Knights. Cataford didn't make the Team Canada roster at the World Juniors this year but could be a candidate to play for the 2025 team.
The 5'11, 190 lbs winger played four games for the Golden Knights AHL affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights after his QMJHL season concluded. In those four games, he registered two assists.
He signed his entry-level contract back on Dec. 31, 2023. With one more year of CHL eligibility, Cataford will likely join the Silver Knights in the 2025-26 season.
