The 2024 IIHF Men's World Championship started today and it will feature no current Vegas Golden Knights players.

It's not much of a surprise that no Golden Knights players are heading over to Prague and Ostrava for the World Championship. Not only did they have a season that was ridiculed with injuries, but they also made a long playoff run the previous season, which shortened their past offseason.

The Golden Knights also have one of the older rosters in the league. Mark Stone, Alex Pietrangelo, Tomas Hertl, William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault, Alec Martinez and Brayden McNabb are all over the age of 30. Jack Eichel and Shea Theodore both would have been accepted by their countries but made the correct decision in opting for a full offseason after undergoing surgeries during the regular season.

This is the second consecutive season that the Golden Knights did not have a player play at the World Championship but last year's reasoning might be more enjoyable for fans than this year's.

With a full offseason giving the players time to recover from injuries and to get themselves prepared for the start of next season, the Golden Knights will hope to perform better in the regular season and use it to prepare themselves for the postseason.

The Golden Knights could never find chemistry in the playoffs and it ultimately led to their downfall.
