Capitals vs. Senators Preview: Line Combinations, Stats, Storylines To Watch

After putting an end to their recent woes on Tuesday, the Washington Capitals are taking things on the row and hoping to keep trending upward as they take on the Ottawa Senators.

Here's everything to know before puck drop at Canadian Tire Centre at 7 p.m. ET.

Washington Capitals Line Combinations

The Capitals are going to give their revamped top-6 another shot, with Alex Ovechkin sticking with Pierre-Luc Dubois and Aliaksei Protas on the top line while Dylan Strome centers Connor McMichael and Tom Wilson on the second.

Logan Thompson will make his third straight start with Charlie Lindgren still on the injured reserve. Hunter Shepard backing up.

Washington Capitals Stats

- Ethen Frank is red-hot and riding a three-game point streak, with goals in back-to-back games. The Nebraska native has revamped the third line, and as a result, is getting more ice time.

- Pierre-Luc Dubois has 20 points in his last 21 games.

Washington Capitals Storylines

- Jakob Chychrun is making his return to Ottawa for the first time since being traded this offseason. He has points in three of his last five outings and has been a perfect fit with Washington, leading all blueliners with 30 points through 39 games.

- Alex Ovechkin remains on the hunt as he looks to get back to his high-scoring ways from the start of the season. Coach Spencer Carbery stressed patience, though, as the 39-year-old continues to get back in the full swing of things after missing 40 days of action with a broken fibula.

- Connor McMichael and Dylan Strome are trying to bust back out, so keep an eye on them.
