The Washington Capitals may just have Logan Thompson back in the crease for Game 4 against the Montreal Canadiens after all, as the netminder, who left Friday's game with a concerning looking injury, took part in the team's morning skate.

Thompson was in the ice and in the starter's net for the Capitals skate and left the ice at the same time as Charlie Lindgren, via NHL.com's Dan Rosen, as coach Spencer Carbery continues to play his cards close to the vest.

Toward the end of Game 3, Thompson was trying to save a shot from Juraj Slafkovsky when Dylan Strome collided with him while backchecking, sending the 28-year-old goalie hard onto the ice. Thompson was in visible discomfort and attended to by trainers before being helped off the ice and relieved by Lindgren in the eventual 6-3 loss.

Washington didn't have an update on Thompson's status on Saturday as he skipped the team's optional practice, and signs pointed to Lindgren getting the start for Game 4, with the team voicing confidence in its No. 2 goaltender.

"It'll be next man up for us, and we know Chucky Lindgren. He's done a great job, he's a great goaltender," Carbery said on Saturday. "There's no concern there of our group having a letdown or our staff having a lack of confidence. We got two great guys."

Thompson avoiding a major injury would be a good sign for the Capitals, though, as he's been stellar in his own right to open the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Through the first three games, he has a .917 save percentage and is a big reason why D.C. holds a 2-1 series lead. However, if he's not ready to go, the team has expressed all the faith in Lindgren.

Puck drop is at 6:30 p.m. at Bell Centre as Washington looks for a better result this time around against the Canadiens.
