WASHINGTON — The Washington Capitals battled hard, and John Carlson saw some guts from his team as it went the distance with the Boston Bruins to further stake a claim for a playoff spot.
Washington ultimately fell 3-2 in the shootout, but the point puts the Capitals into third place in the Metropolitan Division, while the Philadelphia Flyers fell to the second Wild Card spot.
"You never want to take it for granted what's at stake. Anything can happen in this league; people can change, ups and downs, streaks of luck, whatever it is. So you bear down in every game, in every situation and we showed some poise," John Carlson said. "It wasn't perfect tonight but we showed some poise coming back and battling in it until the end and giving ourselves a chance to win. It would've been nice to win but it showed a lot of guts from us tonight."
Here's what he, Charlie Lindgren and Mike Sgarbossa had to say, live from the locker room.
