The Capitals alternate captain has an in-person hearing for his actions on Friday.

As Washington Capitals alternate captain Tom Wilson awaits his disciplinary hearing for high-sticking Noah Gregor, the Toronto Maple Leafs forward took the time to share his perspective.
Gregor addressed reporters after practice on Friday and said he doesn't believe that Wilson's play was intentional.
"I think he felt pretty bad. I think it was obvious that he felt bad about what he did and kind of when he realized it got me," Gregor told reporters in Toronto. "I don't think he's trying to slash a guy in the face. I really don't think anyone in the league is ever trying to do that," Gregor said. "Probably a little reckless with the stick, and unfortunately got me, but it ended up being okay. I'm fine. The league will handle it."
The Leafs winger also said that Wilson apologized after it happened, adding that the injury led to some broken teeth.
Wilson has an in-person hearing via Zoom on Friday afternoon, opening the door for a suspension longer than five games. Given the nature of the play and Wilson's history with the NHL Department of Player Safety over the years, the Capitals could be without the 29-year-old for a good amount of time.
When asked about Wilson's hearing, Gregor told the media that he didn't look too much into it, as it's not his job to make those decisions.
It's a tough position for Washington, who sits three points out of a playoff spot and needs all hands on deck to make a push for the postseason with 14 games remaining on the regular season circuit.
With Wilson out of the mix and T.J. Oshie and Aliaksei Protas also hurting, the Capitals recalled Matthew Phillips to help fill the void on the right side. Mike Sgarbossa and Nicolas Aube-Kubel will also remain in the lineup.
Washington is back in action on Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes.
