The Capitals face the Flyers at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday.

ARLINGTON, V.A. — Alex Ovechkin and Jakob Chychrun were the first two players on the ice for the Washington Capitals on Day 3 of training camp, having to make up the infamous skate test from Day 1.

The Capitals captain had been dealing with a minor injury suffered in offseason training and had sat out the skate test, but was well enough to make it up on Saturday. Chychrun, meanwhile, wasn't feeling well on Day 1, so he got to redo his alongside Ovechkin.

After that, the rest of Group A took the ice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, providing a first look at the lineup for Sunday's preseason opener against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Ovechkin had to fill in at center for Mike Sgarbossa, who was supposed to be in Sunday's lineup but was struck in the face by a shot before practice. He went off for repairs and did not take part in the session, and his status remains up in the air.

Per head coach Spencer Carbery, Sgarbossa, if he's not well enough to go, will be replaced by another center from a different group.

Ovechkin and Chychrun, along with John Carlson, were among the extras in Group A that are not expected to play. Everyone else in the group is expected to be in the lineup, headlined by Jakub Vrana, Terik Parsacak and Andrew Cristall.

Here are how the lines looked for the first group:

Jakub Vrana-Hendrix Lapierre-Ethen Frank

Sonny Milano-Mike Sgarbossa*-Terik Parascak

Andrew Cristall-Henrik Rybinski-Ivan Miroshnichenko

Alex Limoges-Eriks Mateiko-Taylor Raddysh
