The Winnipeg Jets have won eight straight games but have lost five straight to the Toronto Maple Leafs

The Winnipeg Jets look to keep their historic season-opening winning streak alive when returning home Monday to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

It'll be a tough spot for the Jets as they've be going up against a hungry Leafs team that has dropped three straight games. Toronto has also won five straight games over Winnipeg with their last win over the Leafs at home being back in December of 2021.

It'll be an important game for Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who is the reigning-Vezina trophy winner but has a troubling history versus Toronto. The 31-year-old Michigan native has a 7-9-3 record with a 3.07 goals against average and a .906 save percentage over 21 career games versus the Leafs. He's lost three straight starts and has allowed three or more goals in six of their last seven matchups.

The Jets will need to rally around their goaltender that has kept them in some games this season as well as get lucky with a couple bounces like their win over the Flames on Saturday. Toronto has struggled on the defensive end during their losing streak with 15 goals allowed over their three losses.

Hopefully Jets star forward Mark Scheifele can take advantage, after recording five goals and assists for ten points in eight games this season and has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points over his last 11 games versus Toronto.

The Jets have also recieved a sizeable amount of offence generated from their blueliners like Neal Pionk, who is tied with three others for the team lead in points with ten, which breaks down into a goal and nine assists.

They will need to bring the heat tonight if they want to rewrite history and continue the Jets red hot winning streak.

Catch the game exclusively on Amazon Prime Video as a part of Monday Night Hockey. Puck drop is at 6:30 PM MT, or catch the live broadcast on Power 97, the FM home of the Winnipeg Jets. If you are interested in attending, tickets are reasonable for Jets versus the Maple Leafs with the lowest pair being sold at roughly C$82.
