The Winnipeg Jets have won just four of their last 10 matchups versus the Sharks.

The Winnipeg Jets play their first game in five days when taking on the San Jose Sharks at home on Friday. It'll be a tougher spot than expected for the Jets as they are coming into the game after a long layoff and will play a Sharks team that is looking to avoid back-to-back losses.

San Jose has won six of their last ten matchups versus Winnipeg with both teams combining for less than six goals in eight of the ten games.

It'll be a tight game, as the Jets maintain their status as a defensive powerhouse. Last season, they tied with the Boston Bruins for the best goals against average in the league at 2.47 and have continued their dominance this year, allowing a total of two goals in their first three games.

The Sharks finished with the second-lowest goals per game average last season with just 2.20 and they haven't improved with just eight goals through their first four games. They will also be missing 2024 first overall pick Macklin Celebrini, who hasn't played since the season opener after he injuring his hip.

Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele has been on fire to start the season with four goals and a pair of assists for the team-lead in points with six through three games. He'll look to stay hot thanks to his winger Kyle Connor, who has five goals and assists for ten points over his last 11 games versus San Jose.

The Jets second line of Cole Perfetti, Vladislav Namestnikov and Nikolaj Ehlers has no goals yet this season. Hopefully, they used their time off to switch things up ahead of Friday's game to get back on track.

Catch the game on Sportsnet at 7:00 PM MT, or catch the live broadcast on the Oilers Radio Network, including 880CHED. Tickets are extremely reasonable for Jets versus the Sharks with the lowest pair being sold at roughly C$59 for a fun night out.
