The Winnipeg Jets look to avoid their first lengthy losing streak of the season when taking on the Dallas Stars on the road in the Lone Star State.
The Stars have established themselves as a very tough team to beat after making the Western Conference Finals last postseason. They have championship aspirations much like the Jets and every game matters.
It'll be an exciting battle between two of the league's very best netminders. Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck and Dallas's Jake Oettinger are expected to play for Team USA at next year's Four Nations tournament. Both goaltenders have goals against averages under 2.46 and are top two in goalie wins.
When these two teams met a couple weeks ago, the Jets pulled out a decisive 4-1 win where the Stars couldn't pierce the Winnipeg defence until the third period. Dallas will look to put together and better effort Sunday as they've won six of their last nine games.
This series has normally been dominated by the Stars as they've won seven of their last 11 matchups but have lost two straight.
Winnipeg's lethal offence will look to make their presence felt as they still rank second in goals per game with a 3.88 average. They have seen their hardships as of late with one or fewer goals in four of their last nine games.
Dallas has also seen several of their big name stars struggle like Jason Robertson, who recorded 75 goals and 114 assists for 189 points and a 1.15 point-per-game average in 164 games over the last two seasons. This season, he's recorded just five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 22 games which is far off his normal numbers and could mean a breakout coming soon.
Despite his slow start, the Stars still ninth-best in goals per game with a 3.45 average and can be dangerous at times.
Both teams are elite on both sides of the ice and should create an exciting clash between championship contenders. You catch the game on Sportsnet at 3:30 PM MT, or catch the live broadcast on Power 97, the FM home of the Winnipeg Jets.
If you are in the Dallas area, tickets are almost free for the Jets versus Stars with the lowest pair being sold at roughly $13 USD.
