The Manitoba Moose have re-assigned goaltender Domenic DiVincentiis to the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals.
The move comes shortly after the re-arrival of Kaapo Kahkonen via a Waiver claim from Winnipeg Jets' division rival, Colorado.
With Kahkonen being sent direction to the Moose, a three-man goaltending rotation was determined not to be the answer for the best growth among the youthful backstops, so DiVincentiis needed to to be sent down to gain some regular playing time.
“It’s always a bit of a sting when you get sent down at first, but at the end of the day, I’m here to help the organization and do what they need to succeed as well," DiVincentiis told The Hockey News.
"I mean, there’s not much they said other than I’ve played great so far and that they think it will be beneficial for me to go down to Norfolk and get more games under my belt. The process and development is what matters. Norfolk is a great team and I’m excited to get started there and continue what I have started in my pro career.”
DiVincentiis, 20, has suited up in five games this season for Manitoba, sporting a 2-3-0 record with a stellar .930 save percentage and a 2.24 goals against average.
Selected 207th overall in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft, he took home the 2023 OHL Goaltender of the Year Award for his rock solid play with the North Bay Battalion during the 2022-23 season. DiVincentiis boasted an OHL career record of 77-26-7 to go alongside a 2.68 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage.
