
Samberg, 24, will join the United States for the World Championship, which will be held in Finland and Austria later this month. Round robin action will begin on May 12 and run for 11 days, before the quarterfinals take place on the 25th.
The Hermantown, MN. product just completed his first full season in Winnipeg, to which he compiled two goals, eight points, 25 penalty minutes and a +10 rating in 63 games for the Jets. He added another eight penalty minutes in his first five Stanley Cup Playoff appearances.
The former University of Minnesota-Duluth standout will join 21 of his fellow countrymen on the American roster set to find its seventh top-four finish in its past 10 attempts. Samberg most recently played in game action with the Jets in Game 5 of the team's opening round playoff series.
The 2017 second round pick will travel to Munich on Saturday for a brief training camp, which will see USA kick things off with a pre-tournament game against Germany on Tuesday.

Although he and 12 of his teammates will be suiting up in the World Championship for the first time, it will actually be Samberg's third time representing his country on the international stage. He previously competed in the 2018 and 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, to which he took home bronze and silver medals, respectively.
