Connor Hellebuyck recorded his fifth shutout of the season and 37th of his career, as he turned aside all 31 shots he faced.
Sean Monahan and Josh Morrissey each put together three-point outings, while six total Jets recorded multiple points on the afternoon.
Winnipeg scored four goals in the opening frame, before putting up another three in the middle stanza. The Avalanche were unable to respond, while the Jets shut it down in the third period.
Monahan and Adam Lowry each scored twice, while Morrissey, Tyler Toffoli and Gabe Vilardi also potted tallies for the visitors.
The win was Winnipeg's sixth in a row and fourth-straight on the road, while the Jets pulled ahead of Colorado by two points in a critical game set for major playoff implications.
Hellebuyck made all 31 saves, while Alexander Georgiev and Justus Annunen combined for 19 saves on 26 shots against.
Winnipeg had two power play goals on the night and shut down Colorado's lone man advantage.
Next up for the Jets is the season-ending two-game homestand featuring games against Seattle and Vancouver and Tuesday and Thursday.
