Cole Koepke, a physical force, secures a new two-year deal. His hard-hitting presence and energy solidify Winnipeg's forward depth.

On Saturday, the Winnipeg Jets made a depth move to solidify their forward group Saturday afternoon, announcing a two-year contract extension for forward Cole Koepke with an average annual value of $1.45 million.

Koepke, 27, just completed his first season in Winnipeg, contributing eight goals and nine assists for 17 points while carving out a reliable role on the team’s lower lines. Despite averaging just under 11 minutes of ice time per game, the Two Harbors, Minnesota native made a significant impact with his physical play, leading the Jets with 186 hits.

The former sixth round pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2018 NHL Draft, Koepke has built a reputation as a hard-working, physical forward capable of filling key depth roles. While not known for high-end offensive production, he has consistently provided energy and forechecking pressure throughout his NHL career.

Across four seasons in the league, Koepke has totaled 19 goals and 18 assists for 37 points in 165 games split between the Jets, Lightning, and the Boston Bruins. His style of play and willingness to engage physically have made him a valuable piece in bottom-six deployments.
