A brutal shutout loss in Carolina pushes Winnipeg to a breaking point. With offense stalled and discipline crumbling, Captain Adam Lowry signals a looming roster shakeup.

On Sunday, the Winnipeg Jets were handed their ninth straight loss in a tough matchup and an even tougher stretch of the schedule.

It was their third game in four days, all against Stanley Cup contenders in the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Florida Panthers and, on Sunday, the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes. One day removed from Halloween, the Jets suffered a terrifying 7-0 shutout loss, one they will quickly hope to forget.

It was a tough night for both goaltenders with Starter Stuart Skinner allowing five goals and backup Clay Stevenson allowed two. It was also an uncharacteristic game for Winnipeg in terms of discipline, as the Jets took ten minutes in penalties despite being among the bottom eight least-penalized teams in the league.

The continued lack of offense has led to a collapse on the defensive side, with Winnipeg allowing seven goals for the first time since April 11 of last season, when the Jets lost 7-1 to the Philadelphia Flyers in one of their final games of the year.

Ranked in the bottom three in the league at 2.27 goals per game, the Jets have allowed 16 goals over their last three games and have been outscored 37-16 during the nine-game losing streak.

After Sunday's loss, captain Adam Lowry spoke to the media, and the most notable quote was his saying "there's gonna be changes for sure." He also pointed to players with the AHL's Manitoba Moose who are doing well and could be given a shot to bring the Jets some newfound life this season.

Winnipeg's last win came on October 13, a big victory over the Minnesota Wild, but it has now been 19 days since the Jets left the ice with their heads held high.

Conversations have begun about what changes could shake the team out of its funk, including a potential change behind the bench from head coach Scott Arniel, further trade options, or major lineup changes involving calling up and sending down players.

Either way, the top priority will be a reset as the Jets will now get some rest before closing out their four-game road trip in Montreal on Tuesday.
